The Archies: New Teaser Drops! Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda Perform At Netflix Tudum Event

Lots of interesting first looks, teasers, and even full-length trailers have dropped at TUDUM, the Netflix global fan event which is happening in Sao Paolo in Brazil right now, after being virtually held for two years. And one of the many titles to have that honour is The Archies. Yep, the Zoya Akhtar film is all set to mark the debut of Agastya Nanda, Suhana Khan, and Khushi Kapoor alongside Mihir Ahuja, Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, and Dot. The core cast, along with Zoya, are in Brazil, where a fresh new teaser, titled ‘Welcome To The World Of Archies’, has dropped.

The new teaser gives us, the eagerly waiting audience a deeper look into the town of Riverdale in the 1960s. Yep, the film is set in the 60s, in the Anglo-Indian community, which explains why the cast is dressed the way they are (FYI for those who didn’t know). In the new teaser, a train takes us to the hill station of Riverdale in the year 1964, a quaint little town where the most happening place is the cafe Pop Tate’s! Yep, we get our first look at the iconic diner from The Archies comics known for its burgers and delicious milkshakes.

What’s more, we also see the cast, riding across the hilly town on their bicycles, the Archies band practising their rock ‘n’ roll music, and the girls and boys dancing the old school dances. If you are a fan of the Netflix series, Riverdale, you will notice quite a few things that remind you of the show, over and above the whole Archies connection.

The food looks great, the dancing looks fun. I am particularly intrigued with the ‘protests’ bit of the teaser when things get a bit serious and it looks like this gang of friends might get involved in something serious. And I, for one, can’t wait to see a proper trailer where I hear this cast talking.

The Archies cast was announced on the TUDUM stage by one of the evening’s emcees, a gorgeous Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, aka Devi from Never Have I Ever. While Zoya Akhtar was also announced, she didn’t show up on stage. Instead, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Dot, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, and Yuvraj Menda appeared in formation on stage and danced to the ‘Suno’ song that was featured in the very first look of The Archies.

ICYMI, don’t worry, the Shah Rukh Khan fandom captured the whole thing because his daughter Suhana was performing na!

The cast was earlier seen chilling with Maitreyi, and Netflix even dropped photos of them all in matching jackets.

The young actors have also been sharing BTS glimpses of them having fun before the event. It’s all cute and everything, but all eyes are going to be on this film, which is riding high on anticipation. With the immense faith we have in Zoya Akhtar’s abilities, we cannot wait to see what her version of Riverdale is about.

The Archies weren’t the only Indian representation at the TUDUM event. Alia Bhatt was also there along with her Heart Of Stone co-actors Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan to drop the official trailer of the spy action film that marks her Hollywood debut.

When is The Archies releasing?

Good question, we do not know yet. The release date is still to be announced and even the teaser promises that it is coming soon. Alright, we’ll be seated!
