Thamma has been one of the most talked-about films of 2025 for multiple reasons. From its lead stars, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna to its dance numbers, everything contributed to the film being the talk of the town. Talking about the dance numbers, the film featured three songs titled ‘Tum Mere Na Huye,’ ‘Dilbar Ki Aankhon Ka’ and ‘Poison Baby’ which sparked major backlash from the audience. Now the film helmer, Aditya Sarpotdar has defended his decision to put those dance numbers in Thamma.

Aditya Sarpotdar Defends Thamma Dance Numbers

During his conversation with The Indian Express’ Screen, Aditya Sarpotdar stated all such things are “marketing assets” that lead an individual into a movie. He shared that in the end, what the film gives the audience matters. The director added that for him, those tracks appear because the storyline unfolds through them, adding that Thamma was never meant to be an “item number” movie. Sarpotdar made sure to say that the audience didn’t have any issue with the same kinds of songs in his previous work including ‘Taras’ from Munjya and ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ from Stree 2.

He added that all of a sudden people started having an issue with it. Sarpotdar reasoned that maybe it happened too often so people reacted to it differently. Sarpotdar also expressed that Thamma naturally needed more extravaganza and that the audience tends to judge before watching the project. Having said that, he was glad that they watched his film anyway.
