A Taiwanese YouTuber has shared a harrowing story of her experience in Seoul’s Hongdae district. The YouTuber whose name is Liu Li Ying revealed that she was assaulted in Hongdae by a man after she refused his advances. She also posted pictures of her brutal injuries that show the severity of the situation. Read on to know more about the incident.

Taiwanese YouTuber Liu Li Ying Assaulted In Hongdae

On Monday, Taiwanese media reported that YouTuber Liu Li-Ying, who has over 460,000 subscribers, was approached and assaulted by a man in Hongdae, a popular nightlife hub in Seoul’s Mapo District. 

Liu Li-Ying also shared pictures of her bruised legs and arms, as well as scratch marks on her skin, on Instagram. She also revealed that she had gotten her finger fractured in the violent altercation. In her Instagram story, the Taiwanese YouTuber wrote that she was slapped “after rejecting a man’s approach and his demand to sleep together.” Liu also criticised the local police for not being helpful and turning a blind eye to the incident.

Recalling the night of the incident in Hongdae, Liu Li-Ying revealed that she was walking on the street with a friend when two men approached and asked to spend the night together. After the YouTuber refused, one of the men put their arm around her friend’s shoulder. Liu Li Ying intervened by asking the man not to touch her, but he persisted.

Angry with his behaviour, the Taiwanese YouTuber cursed at him. It was then that the man struck her face and beat her, leaving serious bruises on Li-Ying’s arms and legs.

 She also claimed that the police were not proactive in reviewing CCTV footage or making an arrest. Despite the initial reports informing that the man who hit Liu was Korean, the Mapo Police Department confirmed that he was of Chinese origin in their official report.

After Liu Yi-Ying shared her abuse story, some netizens have since come forward to share similar experiences of being followed by men at night on the streets of Hongdae.
