When the director Farah Khan told her that she would be in a saree for the entire movie, Sushmita requested her not to do that as it was her first film with Shah Rukh Khan. Sushmita recalled telling Farah that she wanted to wear 50,000 different outfits. The director did not change her decision despite the actress’ requests. Sushmita further revealed that when she wore the iconic red saree and walked out on the set, Farah took a look at her and asked why she wore it like a “Lungi.” The Taali star reflected that her saree was reworn again and tied very low which made her worried that it might fall.
