Her father, Krishna Dev Mahal, was of Indian origin, settled in the UK, while her mother, June Sarah Mahal, is reportedly from the British lineage. Her wedding to Bollywood star Sunny Deol was a private affair held in London when he was a rising star. Reportedly, producers feared the news of his marriage as it could affect his image as a romantic hero.
So, the secret was intact till the wedding photographs surfaced in a London magazine. Pooja never sought for limelight.
