After Karisma Kapoor’s children filed a case for inheritance in their late father Sunjay Kapur’s estate, drama escalated. This also sparked a question about how close the actress was to her late ex-husband. From the WhatsApp chats and documents attached to the suit filed by her children, it looks like there were personal discussions between the former spouses, ultimately suggesting deeper ties than known to the public.

As per News18, Sunjay Kapur was clearing the way for a Portuguese citizenship for Karisma Kapoor and their two children- Samaira and Kiaan. The documents reportedly showed steps being taken towards securing the abroad nationality for his family. The publication also reported that one of the chats showed Sunjay telling Karisma that she would have to give up her Indian citizenship for a Portuguese passport. This is because India does not permit dual citizenship. These materials will be examined by the court as the case progresses.

On Wednesday, Samaira and Kiaan went up to the Delhi High Court for a civil suit seeking a share in the Rs 30,000 Crores estate of their late father. On the interim relief sought, the Court issued a notice and requested responses within two weeks and rejoinders within one week. The next matter is scheduled for October 9.

Sunjay Kapur’s widow, Priya Sachdeva Kapur, has been instructed to submit a detailed list of the deceased’s movable and immovable assets along with her response. The matter will now be heard in three weeks to consider an ad-interim injunction. Meanwhile, Priya’s lawyers have aimed at Kapoor, claiming that she was “nowhere to be seen” for the past 15 years after the divorce.
