Priya Sachdev’s Legal Team Claims Delhi High Court Have No Authority Over Sunjay Kapur’s Overseas Assets

According to PTI, the legal counsel for Priya Kapur had argued before Justice Jyoti Singh that issues concerning immovable properties are located abroad and, as such, relate to a foreign jurisdiction. Therefore, the Delhi High Court, he said, cannot issue any injunction against her from seeking title over those overseas assets. The submission came in response to an interim application by Karisma Kapoor’s children to restrain Priya from estranging any of Sunjay Kapur’s assets.

Justice Singh, who was hearing the injunction plea, directed all the parties to file their written submissions in the matter. The court has listed the case for further consideration on December 22.

The lawsuit, on behalf of the minor children of Karisma Kapoor, reportedly entails assets amounting to almost 30,000 crores rupees. The petition accuses the will presented by Priya Kapur as fake and seeks to prevent any transfer or control of Sunjay Kapur’s properties.

Meanwhile, senior advocate Akhil Sibal, representing Priya Sachdev’s son, submitted that Priya has no intention of selling her shares in Aureus Investments Pvt Ltd, which were transferred to her after her husband’s death. However, he reiterated that as far as properties in the US and the UK are concerned, the Delhi High Court cannot pass a status quo order.
