SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi’s announcement had a grand unveiling at Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City, featuring the stellar cast of Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. But many eagle-eyed fans observed that the film’s first poster does not show the actors, while giving ample space to the technicians, and they want to know why this was the case. About SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi
On Saturday, November 15, filmmaker SS Rajamouli unveiled his upcoming film Varanasi’s first look as well as the title. It offered us a glimpse into its world and settings spanning continents and centuries. It was tentatively named GlobeTrotter, which was further changed to Varanasi. The 3-minute clip concluded with a title reveal and names of the producers, writer K Vijayendra Prasad, composer MM Keeravani, and other technicians. Many noticed that the names of the three main stars- Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj were missing.

But the core fans of the filmmaker knew that this had been his format since Baahubali. One user commented, “Because these are larger-than-life films, I don’t include any actor’s names in the title/poster because I want the viewers to remember the characters and the universe shown when they see the poster. He also did not include any tags or names in the intro scenes. The film simply stays in its world. Perhaps he’s included the names of actors from Bahubali 1 and 2 in the movie’s end credits.”

Many people have pointed out that, despite their celebrity, Rajamouli is the film’s main selling point for global audiences. “The biggest star in the cast is SSR, not Mahesh Babu. The entire production is borne by the brand SSR, not Mahesh Babu, Priyanka, or Prithivi,” claimed one. SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi is now under production and is scheduled for international distribution on Sankranthi 2027.
