On Wednesday, December 17, Sreeleela took to her Instagram and hit back at deepfakes. She recently became a victim of the same, and her post blew up amid the Payal Gaming MMS controversy. The actress made an emotional post urging users not to support the ‘AI-generated nonsense.’ Her post mentioned the misuse of technology, especially the circulation of non-consensual deepfake images of women in the entertainment industry. She emphasises that regardless of their professions, everyone is someone’s daughter, sister, or friend, and deserves respect and a safe environment.

Sreeleela also said that many of her colleagues were also facing similar problems and that she was speaking on their behalf. She urged everyone to stand by artists with grace and dignity by not sharing harmful and manipulated content. Fact-checking by various news sites and digital specialists revealed that the video was either an AI-generated deepfake or a recycled clip of an unrelated individual.
