All The Reasons Why Fans Found Squid Game Season 3 Disappointing
All the reasons why Squid Game season 3 fell short of fans' expectations.

Expectations were extremely high when Squid Game Season 3 debuted on Netflix on June 27. However, a few days following its premiere, a number of fans expressed disappointment at what they perceived to be a lacklustre and rushed conclusion to the once captivating mystery thriller series. Here are all the reasons why Squid Game season 3 did not meet fans’ expectations. Beware of the spoilers!
Key Characters Left Underdeveloped
One of the most common complaints that fans had was that many lead characters of Squid Game seasons 2 and 3 were not explored properly. Key characters like Hwang Jun-ho and the Front Man were severely underutilised. Many plotlines just ended without any resolution. Both Jun-ho and No-eul’s storylines came to an abrupt climax.
Fan-Favourites Killed Without Closure
Unarguably, one of the biggest shocks of the season came when beloved characters like Hyun-ju, Jun-hee, and Jang Geum-ja were killed off without any buildup or emotional impact.
Gi-hun’s Sacrifice Misses the Mark
Many viewers found Gi-hun’s sacrifice to save a newborn child to be forced and emotionally manipulative. Fans did not feel that this was the best ending that the show could have.
A Western Spin-Off Raises Concerns
Towards the end of the show, Cate Blanchett shows up teasing a Western adaptation of Squid Game. This sparked a lot of debate about whether there really is a need for a Western version of Squid Game.

The VIPs’ Unnecessary Commentary
The return of the much-hated VIP characters only added to the frustration rather than moving the plot forward. Their exaggerated commentary, especially during tense moments like the Jump Rope game, disrupted the narrative flow.
