In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the cast of Squid Game season 3, along with director Hwang Dong Hyuk, talked about the American version of Squid Game and which actor was in the mind of the director. In response, Lee Byung Hun said Adam Sandler, and Im Si Wan said Leonardo DiCaprio. Surprisingly, Im Si Wan was correct, as it was the exact actor who was in the mind of the director. Hwang Dong Hyuk stated that there were many rumours circulating about DiCaprio, including whether he might even make a brief appearance in the original series.

Why Leonardo DiCaprio? The creator stated that the American actor would do well as a player in the games. He added that Leonardo DiCaprio has recently shown a knack for playing “loser roles” similar to Gi Hun’s character, and therefore he could nicely capture the struggles and vulnerabilities of the protagonist.
