Are Gi-Hun And In-Ho Brothers? Squid Game Creator And Cast React To Wild Fan Theories About Season 3

In a recent interview with Netflix, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and lead actors Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun sat down to react to and discuss fan theories surrounding the much-anticipated final season of the show. Trapped in the terrifying death game for the second time, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) continues his mission to take down the violent operation led by the masked Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), also known as In-ho. Fans have many theories about what will happen next in the show, and here are the cast’s reactions to the most popular ones!

The Family Theory: Are Gi-hun and In-ho Brothers?

One of the most popular theories that has been going on since season 1 of Squid Game is that Gi-hun and In-ho might actually be brothers. The theory suggests that both the characters are actually long-lost brothers and sons of Il-nam, the original creator of the game. Fans seemed to connect the dots by pointing out how both of them are lactose intolerant. However, Hwang debunked the theory, pointing out that lactose intolerance is very common and the theory does not have a solid base.

The Front Man Theory: Will Gi-hun Replace In-ho?

Another popular theory that has been floating around for a while is whether Gi-hun will win and become the next front man. Fans think that Gi-hun may end up winning and eventually taking over. In response to this theory, actor Jung-jae pondered whether human nature might push someone towards power even after they end up winning the prize money. While not confirming or denying the theory, Hwang noted how In-ho’s transition came after winning the game, so maybe Gi-hun’s journey is not that different from his either.
