LE SSERAFIM’s Company Takes Strict Legal Action Against Deepfake Crimes
On 29 December, Source Music updated the Weverse community, confirming that it is taking strict legal action against any malicious or illegal posts about its artists. It has been actively gathering evidence from internal systems and reports submitted by fans, which it uses to file criminal complaints.
According to the agency, grievances are levelled against individuals charged with posting misleading information, defamatory comments, insults, and sexual expressions relating to LE SSERAFIM. In its defence, the group clarified that it had already obtained final guilty verdicts in cases where harmful stories were propagated about it, such as defamatory nicknames and conspiracy charges.
The most disturbing aspect of the update was that it involved deepfake crimes. Source Music confirmed that the videos produced using artificial intelligence, which contained false depictions of the members, were traced back to the offender, even though they were distributed anonymously via platforms such as Telegram. One such culprit was sentenced to prison, with the other still behind bars due to ongoing court cases.
Source Music further clarified that it will not be seeking settlements or leniency in these instances, sticking to a strict zero-tolerance policy with respect to any acts of harm that could impact the reputation and dignity of its artists. The organisation asked fans to continue reporting malicious content, as they have played an important role in the progress of the investigation.
