Extreme Job Actor Song Young Kyu Found Dead Amid Ongoing DUI Case

Veteran South Korean actor Song Young Kyu was reportedly found dead on Sunday. According to media reports, the Yongin Eastern Police Station in Gyeonggi-do confirmed this morning that they have confirmed his death after concluding their investigation. The actor’s demise comes a week after he was embroiled in a DUI case. Read on to know more. 

Actor Song Young Kyu Passes Away At 55 Amid DUI Scandal

A week after being accused of driving under the influence,  South Korean actor Song Young-Kyu has been reportedly found dead. As per Maeil Business Newspaper’s report, Song Young-Kyu was discovered unconscious in a vehicle parked at a townhouse in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, around 8:00 AM on Sunday. The cops were alerted after an acquaintance found him.

A source close to Song Yong Kyu revealed the actor’s mental state during the past few days, telling them that he was distressed by the malicious articles and comments, and the circumstances were extremely unfavourable at that time.

In July 2025, Song Young Kyu was booked without detention for driving under the influence in Yongin. His blood alcohol level was reportedly above 0.08 per cent. As a result, his driving license was revoked and the actor was removed from his ongoing work projects, including the stage production for Shakespeare In Love.

The drunk driving incident was reported to the police by a local citizen. After the case was brought to light, Song Young Kyu remained silent on the matter and did not release any statement. He was reportedly returning home after drinking with friends. Although no further details were revealed by the police, public backlash towards Song Young Kyu following the DUI case was intense.

Who Was Song Young Kyu

The late actor was a well-known figure in the South Korean entertainment industry. He played the role of Pastor Yoon Se Hoon in ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama Eye Shopping and also starred in the hit movie Extreme Job. The actor also starred in several K-Dramas like Big Bet, Partners For Justice and Hwarang.
