“Women Are Lazy And Always On Edge,” Says Sonali Kulkarni, Twitter Gives Her A Reality Check!
She had no filters!

The conversations around gender equality have increased in recent times. And rightly so, because we need more and more equal opportunities for women in every sphere. During a recent event, actress Sonali Kulkarni spoke at length about those few per cent of women who have taken gender equality for granted and fail to equally contribute to household responsibilities. Her statements have received a severe backlash on Twitter but some users also agreed with many points that the actress boldly put out on the forum.

Sonali Kulkarni recently appeared on a CoachBSR interview with Bhupenddra Singh Raathore and honestly put forth her opinions on privileged women who do not make themselves useful in household expenses but have high demands to be fulfilled by their husbands or partners. Sonali Kulkarni during the interview called these women “Lazy” and said that they want partners in life who are well-settled and high-paid but are themselves not capable of contributing the same. She goes on to appeal to the parents to raise girls who are self-independent and are capable to support their families.

Sonali Kulkarni also said that girls should also have an equal amount of pressure to earn for their families like the boys of the house. The actress backed up her point with an example and said that one of her very close friends was looking for a partner who had a good income, car and house, and someone staying away from family. To this, the actress had a furious reaction and she said, “Are you out shopping in a mall?” The Dil Chahta Hai actress also questioned the girls who are always on edge and refuse to understand situations.
Her statements were not taken well by the women on Twitter. Many of them came forward to criticise the actress for her opinions that were putting women down. They called her a privileged upper-class woman.
I do not completely agree. There are so many women out there who take care of their families and even their husband families if needed. They are a lot of hardworking women out there! Who equally support their husbands to make a home.

So.. she's telling that housewives are lazy bums, but working women who don't fulfill any responsibility towards her husband & family are not lazy. 🤡
Being a housewife & fulfilling her responsibilities is the toughest job, as there are no paid leaves, period leaves, holidays etc

it's so frustrating to watch women do mental gymnastics to sympathize with men and pretend that women aren't flourishing because they are just lazy https://t.co/K5dtZ7rTdr

But why do they think that only career oriented women are modern and independent?
My mother, just like most of her generation's women, is a housewife.
They are the managers of their own home.
Raising a family is much more important than buying a fridge!https://t.co/54oaKv9mw6— Rajshree Das🇮🇳 (@rajshreenitu) March 16, 2023
Ma’am @sonalikulkarni it might be shocking for you. But a lot of us also got campus placed and started earning at 20. The women who don’t earn do a lot of unpaid house labor. That apart, housewives in most rural india earn passive income. It’s utterly irresponsible a statement. https://t.co/Pv9Pdp99hw

There were some Twitter users who agreed with Sonali Kulkarni and hailed for bravely speaking out the facts loud and clear.
She’s absolutely right and fking brave to be able to say this. As much as the other side of the coin in being talked about, and rightly so, it’s also true that many many women choose the path of convenience till the time their expenses are being taken care of & it’s as much true. https://t.co/I5IyurHq04
