Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated after a wave of cross-border hostilities. Many celebs have been showing constant support to the Indian army amid these circumstances. And in recent updates, Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha has criticised what she called the ‘circus of Indian television news’ publicly. She slammed mainstream media channels for sensationalised coverage of the ongoing war, accusing them of spreading panic instead of clarity.
Sonakshi Sinha Slams Media Channels
On Friday, May 9, Sonkahsi Sinha took to her Instagram stories and shared a post refraining media from doing live coverage of the India-Pakistan war. She mentioned that our mainstream news channels were a joke. Sinha seemed done with over-sensationalised visuals, effects, and screaming on TV and asked them to just report facts. “Stop sensationalising WAR and creating panic in people who are anyway anxious, for God’s sake. People, just find a reliable news source and stick to that… stop watching this garbage in the name of news,” she wrote.

This came hours after the Ministry of Defence issued a formal advisory to media portals and digital platforms to refrain from airing real-time coverage of the ongoing war. This included military operations, troop movements, and tactical decisions. The ministry cautioned that such coverage could jeopardise operational security, injure people, and enable adversaries who monitor Indian media. The guidance also cited previous incidents, such as the Kargil War, the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and the Kandahar hijacking, as warning signs of how irresponsible reporting might pose major national security dangers.

On May 8, Pakistan started a series of drone and missile attacks against Indian states such as Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir. Nonetheless, Indian soldiers effectively intercepted and neutralised all inbound threats.
