In a recent interview, Sonakshi Sinha reflected on her career trajectory, acknowledging her past roles in some problematic big films where such terms were used. However, she firmly asserted that she wouldn’t return to those kinds of roles anymore.

Sonakshi Sinha’s Stand On Being Called Maal
During the interview, the Heermandi star discussed how she had done some films where often she was termed as the maal in the movies, but now as she looks forward she realised she cannot go back to such roles, where terms like maal are used, adding to the conversation she also mentioned how it’s not just her fight alone but people from the industry would have to stand up to it as well. Sonakshi highlighted a noticeable shift in the roles she chooses, particularly after her performance in AR Murugadoss’ 2016 action thriller, Akira. In the film, she portrayed a vigilante fighting against acid attacks and female abuse, marking a significant turning point in her career. Referring to this transformation, Sonakshi emphasized her commitment to portraying characters that resonate with her values.
