It's a good weekend watch!

From Contestants To Concept, 4 Reasons Why You Should Watch Social Currency On Netflix!

I am not a person who really likes to watch reality shows that involve a bunch of youngsters living together in a villa to prove who is the best.IYKYK! And, for obvious reasons, I was kinda sceptical to watch the new Netflix series Social Currency too. I had preconceived notions about this show which features 8 well-known influencers competing to showcase their superiority in the influencing world. However, to my surprise, the show did manage to hold my attention from the first episode itself. So much so that I ended up watching the first three episodes of Social Currency. This might be shocking for you but my first impression of Social Currency is pretty good and I have a few reasons why you should watch it too! Or maybe, at least give it a try!

The Atrangi Contestants!

Social Currency has 8 famous influencers-Parth Samthaan, Rowhi Rai, Bhavin Bhanushali, Mridul Mridhok, Sakshi Chopra, Aakash Mehta, Ruhi Singh and Vagmita Singh. They come from different walks of life. The group of 8 includes actors, a comedian and content creators. Since the show will not only judge these influencers based on their social media following but also offline and interpersonal, the real sides of all the contestants come to the surface pretty quickly. Each one of them has their own charm and personality that will appeal to the audience. Comedian Aakash Mehta is a delight to watch because of his punch lines here and there. Even Vagmita Singh presents her authentic self with the other contestants in the first few episodes. Mridul Madhok will really make you laugh for being the most controversial participant on the show. You ask why, well, watch it so you know!

The Hatke Concept!

TBH, I did doubt the concept of this show too! I assumed that Social Currency would be another show where influencers would live together and pretend to be something they are not. But the concept of this show actually makes the contestants unfold their real sides quite quickly. The activities and reality checks from the leaderboard make the influencers face some of their worst fears. The offline, online and interpersonal tasks to judge each of them are quite interesting too and give you an adrenaline rush in some moments!

Seedhi Baat, No Bakwaas!

This reality show where contestants have to stay in a villa for 21 days does not sugarcoat reality or human behaviour. In one of the episodes, comedian Akash Mehta deals with his severe anxiety issues but the other participants are quite supportive and even the show’s crew! If you watch the show, you will also realise the struggles that an influencer goes through in building their online fam! Since Social Currency has actors, a comedian and content creators, you will also understand the factors affecting their reach and engagement with the audience. The difference between why a content creator is less famous than the other or a comedian not getting enough following even after being in the business for 10 years is shown in a transparent manner through the contestants.

Interesting Guest Appearances!

Okay, I will reveal this to you! In the first few episodes, I got to see two guest appearances, out of which, one I will spill and that is- Sunny Leone. Her presence on the show added chaar chaand to it! In fact, it also boosts the energy of all the 8 contestants. Sunny Leone drops some truth bombs for the contestants and it creates moments of laughter. You will laugh your heart out!
