The release date for Amir Khan’s highly anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par is arriving very soon. Unfortunately, as the film is just a week away from its release, some bad news is on the way. A report says that the Central Board of Film Certification (also known as CBFC) has ordered two cuts to be made in the film. However, Aamir Khan does not agree to this decision. According to reports by Bollywood Hangama, Aamir Khan believes that Sitaare Zameen Par should hit platforms without any cuts and be released as it is, with the original cut as intended to be shown by him and director RS Prasanna.
What Has The Censor Board Said About Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par
The source told Bollywood Hungama that Aamir Khan does not approve of the cuts that the censor board has asked for and will be having a meeting with the CBFC Examining Committee on Monday regarding this matter. Because of this issue, the makers of the film are not able to announce or plan advance bookings for the movie, since the CBFC will pass its decision on the film on June 16. Till then, movie theatres cannot sell tickets as the film does not have a censor certificate.
On the other hand, the film has received a 12A certificate from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), a British Censor Board. A 12A certificate indicates that the film contains discrimination and moderate s*x references.
Sitaare Zameen Par was earlier set to have a limited release. However, due to high demand, this plan has been dropped by Aamir and his team, and the film will now have a conventional theatrical release all over India. A report by Pinkvilla reveals that the film will release in 3000-3500 theatres across the country.
