Chinmayi On Chiranjeevi’s Casting Couch Comments
Chinmayi took to her X and stated that the casting couch exists in the film industry and women are refused roles if they don’t offer “full commitment”, a word that has another meaning in the industry. The singer added that men are in positions where they believe that they are entitled and will demand and expect s*xual favours from women. Chinmayi recalled an incident where a person attempted to s*xually assault a female musician in a studio, who locked herself in the booth until she was rescued by a senior in the industry. The singer further mentioned, “So, no – the Industry is not a mirror that reflect who you are.”
While reflecting on an alleged incident that happened with her, Chinmayi wrote that she didn’t get m*lested by Vairamuthu because she asked for it. The singer shared that she was barely an adult out of her teens and she respected him and did not think he was an unsafe older man. She alleged that her mother was in the same premise and he m*lested her anyway. The songstress shared, “Men believing they are OWED s*x in return for giving work are the problem.”
