Another heartbreaking news made headlines on September 14 about the alleged separation of singer Akon and his wife Tomeka Thiam. If reports are to be believed, Tomeka has filed for a divorce from the singer just days before their 29th wedding anniversary, and also stated the reason for their separation. Akon’s Wife Files For Divorce
Akon and Tomeka Thiam have been married for 29 years now, and also have a 17-year-old daughter. However, their relationship has taken a unfortunate turn after Tomeka filed for a divorce on September 11. This happened just four days before their 29th wedding anniversary. As per a report by PEOPLE, the divorce was filed on the 11th of this month and their reason behind this divorce is ‘irreconcilable differences’. As per the report, Tomeka has askes for the custody of their daughter, and has requested only visitation rights for Akon. She has also requested for spousal support for herself but not for the singer. Although she has requested the joint legal custody of their daughter, as per the reports.
In one of his previous interviews, Akon has also advocated of Polygamy justifying it as a part of their African Culture. He had also went on to revealed that he had 9 children and he felt absolutely normal about that because it was a part of their culture, as per PEOPLE.

On the work front, Akon is known for songs like ‘Smack That’, ‘Lonely’, ‘Bananza’ and his famous collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan on ‘Chammak Challo’. His 2004 single ‘Locked Up’ brought a lot of recognition for him.
