Signal Season 2’s Production Team Releases Statement Following Cho Jin Wook’s Retirement
On December 5, it was reported that Cho Jin Woong had a juvenile delinquency record back in school. The news started a huge debate and criticism about him. Later, it was reported that he also had other controversies as an adult, such as an assault controversy and a DUI record in the past. Due to the reports, Cho Jin Woong came forward and apologised for his past and announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.
These developments have made netizens unsure about the future of Signal, the long-awaited second season of the critically acclaimed 2016 drama Signal, which Cho Jin Woong had already finished filming earlier this year.
On December 19, Signal’s production team released an official statement of regret and concern for the situation. In the statement, they wrote that Signal season 2 is prepared with “utmost care” and intends to be a meaningful project for viewers who have waited almost a decade for a continuation of the story. Though originally targeting a summer 2026 release, the team says they understand the disappointment their fans feel.

Signal season 2 brings back original cast members Kim Hye Soo, Lee Je Hoon, and Cho Jin Woong ten years after the first season aired.
