Shreya Ghoshal Will Not Record Songs Like ‘Chikni Chameli’ Anymore
Shreya Ghoshal recently had an interesting chat with Raj Shamani during which she spoke about ‘Chikni Chameli,’ saying that a lot of artistry was involved in it. She revealed that the version that has been featured in Agneepath is more subtle than the original drafts, though still suggestive. The singer recalled that at the time she didn’t always understand what she was singing, as she wasn’t mature enough to realise the meaning of certain lines. Shreya revealed that now she is more conscious of what she records, and if a song becomes a hit, she has to perform it everywhere, sometimes even in front of the kids, which is uncomfortable for her.
As the conversation progressed, Raj recalled that she previously faced trolling as she spoke about the song being objectifying yet continuing to perform it during the concerts. The songstress accepted that she performed it and that she likes that song. However, Shreya clarified that she won’t record songs like that anymore. She also said that it’s one song she will have to live with; even the kids in the audience may dance to it. She declared that she cannot disown it.

What Did She Say In The Past Interview
Back in 2025, Shreya Ghoshal had a chat with Lilly Singh, during which she spoke about singing raunchy songs in her career, which also includes ‘Chikni Chameli,’ which she would not sing in the present day. Shreya expressed that there is a fine line between sensual, s*xy and being objectified or objectifying women in general. She became more conscious over time because she saw little girls singing those songs without understanding the meaning, adding that they are just dancing to them. Later, she was brutally trolled for saying that she no longer wanted to sing such songs but continued performing them during concerts and events.
