A few days back, the first glimpse of Shraddha Kapoor’s next film Eetha teaser, was dropped. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar, who is also known for Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. Eetha is based on the life of the renowned Lavani artist and Tamasha dancer, Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The first glimpse got everyone’s attention; however, as per the latest updates, Vithabai’s family and the NCP have demanded a title change of the film. Read here to know why.

Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha Name Change Demand

As per the TV9 Marathi, the NCP’s Film and Cultural Department has raised a demand for film’s title change, few days after its teaser’s release. The members reportedly feel that the name ‘Eetha’ does not justify the legacy and powerful personality of Vithabai Narayangaonkar who was known to have taken Maharashtra’s cultural legacy to the forefront. The NCP further opined that the makers could have simply named the film ‘Vithabai’ or ‘Vitha’ and that these names went better with the film that was based on a renowned artist who contributed exceptionally to Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage. The NCP has expressed firmly stated that it’s their responsibility to make sure that the film on Vithabai Narayangaonkar is presented with the highest level of dignity and respect which the exceptional artist deserved.

Furthermore, Vithabai Narayangaonkar’s son Kailash Narayangaonkar, Rajesh Narayangaonkar and her grandson Mohit Narayangaonkar have also backed NCP’s demand for the film’s title change.
