In recent events, Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has finally announced his engagement to his girlfriend Sophie Shine on Monday, January 12, 2026. He shared a picture of their hands with rings on them, and fans have been showering love on this new chapter of their lives in their comment section. A beautiful set-up was also seen in the same. A beautiful set-up of roses shaped as a heart with lots of candles and lights was shared by the cricketer. In the caption, he wrote, “From shared smiles to shared dreams. Grateful for the love, the blessings and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever.” He was first spotted with his now finace during the ICC Champions 2025 after which they grabbed eyeballs immediately. For the unversed, Shine is an Irish woman who has worked very hard to climb the corporate ladder just like Shikhar. She did her schooling for Ireland then went to Castleroy College and later pursued higher education from Limerick Institute of Technology as a marketing and management student. She started her professional career as a product consultant for a multinational corporation. She later joined Northern Trust Corporation in Abu Dhabi and worked as a vice president until March 2025. Sophie then ventured into sports charity, becoming Chief Operating Officer for Dhawan’s company, Da One Sports.

While there has been much conjecture about Sophie’s relationship with Dhawan when she was first sighted at Punjab Kings IPL matches in 2024, it is believed that the two met earlier in a restaurant in Dubai. The allegations that Dhawan was in a relationship following his divorce from his ex-wife, Ayesha Mukherji, in 2023 gained traction.
