Heeramandi actor Sharmin Segal opens about being judged for her looks and dealing with body image issues!

Sharmin Segal has been receiving constant backlash since the release of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial series Heeramandi. The actress was first criticised for her acting skills and for not nailing the role of Alamzeb, but as soon as the actor started reacting to it, turned into her being trolled for being mean towards her co-stars in interviews. And the trolling continues over a month after the release of the series on Netflix. In a recent interview, the actor has now opened up about struggling with body image issues and how she has days when she wishes to look like Bella Hadid.
Sharmin Segal On Body Image Issues
While all of us have some or other insecurities about our bodies, Sharmin shares that she loves her body but on some days she also feels unhappy with her looks. She gives a relatable example to explain her statement that eating french fries for dinner makes her feel bloated the next day. Speaking to News18, the Heeramandi actor also adds that feeling comfortable in your skin takes time as it is a slow process because your body constantly changes.
How Did Sharmin Finally Started Accepting Her Body?
Sharmin has a sympathetic relationship with her body now. Sharmin Segal reveals that one’s thoughts about their body have to evolve with changing bodies. She says that she’s more comfortable with her changing body now because we are all women at the end of the day and we go through pregnancies and periods so our bodies will definitely change.
Sharmin On Wishing To Look Like Bella Hadid On Somedays
Even though Sharmin has been working to come to terms about the way she looks, the actress confides that having to terms with your body and still loving it is a difficult task to achieve. But one should be okay with putting in the effort without worrying about instant results. Sharmin also reveals that she wishes that she looked like supermodel Bella Hadid on some days.
Sharmin On Actors Being Judged Constantly For Looks
In her interview, Sharmin also opened up about how actors are often judged by their looks. She says that when you are confident about your looks and who you are as a person, it reflects on your craft. She adds that the audience often judges the actor’s craft based on their looks which is a sad thing but this is changing soon with time.
Sharmin says that times have changed, and things now work differently and beauty standards in the industry are changing and that she is happy to see women of different shapes and sizes coming on-screen!
