Sharmila Tagore says many actors require travelling with cooks, masseuse while shooting a film!

The rising entourage costs of actors have become a big topic of discussion in Bollywood. During a recent conversation, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore shed light on the same. She shared her concerns over actors travelling with cooks, masseuses, etc.
Sharmila Tagore On Actor’s Entourage
During a recent interview with SCREEN, Sharmila Tagore said, “I am concerned about how actors are not just charging huge amounts, but many even travel with cooks, masseuse, and an entire entourage.” Narrating an incident, she revealed that a makeup artist told her that actors compete over the size of their vanity vans these days.
She continued by saying that previously, vanity vans were viewed as a place of privacy and a comfortable place to change your dress. But today, it consists of meetings, restrooms, beds, etc which distracts actors from the main job- acting. She acknowledged how money was also important, but said if one moves away from reality, how would they know what works and doesn’t work with the audience?

Sharmila Tagore also spoke on how the lack of camaraderie in Bollywood today is a negative thing. She revealed how when she won an award for Anuradha, her contemporaries Nargis and Wahida Rahman were present in the audience while Kishore Kumar sang on the stage. She revealed how it was a celebration of the film industry rather than herself.
Sighting her disappointment in today’s time, she said, “But now, in many award shows, some turn up very late, and a new row is added to the first row to accommodate the A-listers, and more importantly, no one talks to anyone.” She revealed how many people just take photos and leave while the ones not getting an award don’t even turn up. She concluded by saying that even though things had changed, it was not for the better.
