Bollywood’s king Shah Rukh Khan’s house Mannat is set to undergo renovations this summer. The entire Khan family will be moving out of their Bandra address for the renovation and the extension work to go smoothly. While the actor reportedly was taking permissions, the plan has already hit a roadblock. An activist has alleged troubles in the plan, urging the National Green Tribunal to step in and pause the work.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat Renovation In Trouble?
On Monday, Bar & Bench reported that social activist Santosh Daundkar had filed the NGT, charging Shah Rukh and the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) of violating the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance required for Mannat repairs. The bungalow is a Grade III heritage structure, thus any structural changes must be approved first.
According to the source, Shah Rukh intends to enlarge the six-story bungalow by adding two additional levels. The suit also alleges that Shah Rukh committed fraud by combining ’12 number of 1-BHK flats for mass housing’ into a house for one family.
The NGT has now directed Daundkar to provide proof of their accusations. “If any violation of the above procedure has been committed by the Project Proponent or the MCZMA, the same may be submitted by the appellant specifically along with the evidence in support of that, within four weeks, failing which we would be left with no option but to dismiss the present appeal for non-compliance,” a reply from Judicial Member Dinesh Kumar Singh and Vijay Kulkarni, the Expert Member, stated. The NGT will hold its next hearing on April 23.
