Women who can’t have kids often endure harsh treatment from society. They face a lot of criticism and judgment for something beyond their control. Along with the judgement, they have to deal with societal pressures and unfair scrutiny due to their inability to conceive. Speaking on a similar topic, veteran actress Shabana Azmi opened up about how she felt about being unable to have kids.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Shabana Azmi revealed how tough it was for her to deal with the fact she couldn’t bear children. She stated that it was difficult for her to accept that she couldn’t have children and that society made her feel incomplete. She further added that one needs to work hard to divert their mind and pull oneself out. One’s absolute sense of self must come from their work. We agree! Women shouldn’t be judged or scrutinised if they aren’t able to bear children. They are not machines that are meant for a sole purpose.

They are human beings. Furthermore, she added that many times women measure their self-worth depending on their relationships and how they are as a mother, daughter, or wife. However, for men, it’s not the same. They measure their success according to their career. They achieve satisfaction and happiness due to their work. Hence, she believes that the same should be applied to women. For the unversed, Shabana Azmi got married to Javed Akhtar on December 9 1984. Javed Akhtar was previously married to Honey Irani, however, they got divorced in 1985.
