During a recent live session, he opened up about a moment in the United States when he ordered a simple iced Americano. However, the barista struggled to understand him. SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan Faces Possible Racism In The U.S.
In the live session, Seungkwan explained how he carefully ordered his drink, as he had done many times before in the States. He practised saying, “Can I get one iced Americano?” but the barista kept misunderstanding him. They asked if he wanted an oat milk latte instead. Frustrated, he repeated his order, but when the drink arrived, it was an iced Americano with almond milk, which wasn’t what he wanted. This left him feeling confused.
After he revealed this, fans became furious. One user wrote, “nah kwannie, this is just white people in america feeling superior to asians I UNDERSTOOD HIM PERFECTLY SO WDYM THEY DIDN’T.” Another user wrote, “fully convinced this was an act of racism. kwan perfected it and yet that barista still decides to botch it bcs where did he say he wants almond milk??.”

For the unversed, another K-pop group, BOYNEXTDOOR, also faced unfair treatment. While at a restaurant, the members noticed the staff ignored their table. They tried calling for service, but the workers only filled their water and told them to wait. Meanwhile, other tables were being attended. Member Leehan shared that the group felt overlooked and suspected the treatment might have been due to discrimination. Their revelation made many fans angry!
