SEVENTEEN fans have much to rejoice as the K-pop group is all set to debut a new unit featuring members VERNONand and The8. The two members will apparently release their album in the second half of 2026. An insider source, allegedly from PLEDIS Entertainment, the group’s agency, revealed this to a Korean news agency on March 12, 2026. SEVENTEEN’s VERNON, The8 To Debut New Unit In June 2026
On March 12, 2026, Yonhap News reported that an insider disclosed details of a new SEVENTEEN unit of VERNON and The8. According to the source, the pair is working on its album with the “goal of releasing it in June.” Adding that both would have production credits, they said that Vernon and The8 (Xu Minghao) were actively participating in the same.
While many have been speculating about the next collaboration within the ‘Maestro’ group, the informer seems to confirm the members. Dubbed ‘Verhao’ by fans, Vernon and The8 offered a glimpse of their teamwork outside SEVENTEEN in The8’s 2024 Chinese EP ‘Stardust’.
While Chwe Vernon has songwriting credits on two songs from the EP, he also recorded ‘54321 (Lift Off)’ with The8. CARATs (SEVENTEEN fans) were particularly taken that Chwe sang in Mandarin, a language he does not speak. He also helped write ‘Orbit’, the title track from ‘Stardust’.
CARATs Eagerly Await Music By Vernon, The8 Unit
Fans took to social media to express their excitement about the ‘Verhao’ unit. They expect “bangers” because this duo’s released music has always been unique, reflected in the music they listen to. Often seen sharing recommendations, Vernon and The8 are a well-suited pair. Spotted with English singer FKA twigs, CARATs headcannon a possible feature on the album, or at least a production credit. Other artists expected to be credited on their music include DPR Arctic and Lil Moshpit, active in the Korean hip-hop/EDM scene.

This Vernon and The8 team would be the sixth to debut from SEVENTEEN. The earlier ones are Jeonghan and Wonwoo (JxW); Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi (BSS); Hoshi and Woozi (HxW); S.Coups and Mingyu (CxM); and finally DK and Seungkwan (DxS).
VERNON has had songwriting and production credits since the ‘VERY NICE’ group was formed. His singles (for instance, ‘Black Eye’) and presence as a featured artist outside SEVENTEEN showcase his artistry in unique ways. Similarly, The8’s Mandarin singles (for example, ‘Hai Cheng’) allow him to shine brightly. It will certainly be very interesting to see this pair release tracks together.
