Jurors Again Watch 2016 Footage Of Sean Diddy Combs Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend Cassie Ventura In Ongoing Trial

The federal s*x trafficking trial of Sean Diddy Combs reached a pivotal moment on Monday as jurors were shown security footage from 2016 depicting the music mogul violently assaulting his former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, inside a Los Angeles hotel. The harrowing video was part of a broader prosecution strategy aimed at proving Combs engaged in a pattern of coercive abuse and criminal enterprise spanning more than a decade.

The footage, which jurors saw on the first day of the trial seven weeks ago and again Monday, frames a narrative of sustained abuse and exploitation. Prosecutors say this is a critical link in a larger scheme involving drug-fueled s*x parties, referred to in court as freak-offs, that took place in high-end hotels across the country.

Jurors were also presented with nearly 20 minutes of s*xually explicit video clips from encounters between Combs, hired male s*x workers, and various women, including a woman referred to in court as Jane. Jane, a single mother, previously testified that she was romantically involved with Combs between 2021 and his arrest in 2023. According to Homeland Security Agent Joseph Cerciello, who took the stand Monday, many of these encounters were recorded by Combs himself and spanned several hours.

To preserve courtroom decorum, the explicit recordings were played privately to the jury via headsets, hidden from reporters and spectators. Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey guided jurors through the graphic footage, some of which was filmed as recently as 2022.

Prosecutors allege that Combs, now 55, orchestrated a complex network using his employees and business resources to traffic s*x workers across cities like Miami, New York, and Las Vegas. They argue these operations were not only exploitative but indicative of a racketeering conspiracy.

The defence has countered by framing the encounters as consensual. Last week, Combs’ attorneys presented their own set of video clips, claiming they support the idea that no coercion occurred. One segment included footage from 2012 and 2014 involving Combs, Cassie, and a male s*x worker. Cassie, who was in a relationship with Combs for over a decade, has publicly accused him of years of abuse, leading to a now-settled lawsuit filed in 2023.

With prosecutors expected to rest their case Tuesday following the defence’s cross-examination of Agent Cerciello, closing arguments are tentatively set for Thursday. If convicted, Combs faces the possibility of a life sentence.
