Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial was one of the most talked-about legal cases this year. People were shocked to listen to the victim testimonies and other horrifying details that were revealed during the highly publicised legal case. The rapper has now been sentenced to prison for 50 months after being found guilty of facilitating transportation for pr*stitution. Netflix recently released a docuseries about the media mogul produced by Diddy’s long-time rival and rapper 50 Cent. Read on to know how 50 Cent obtained the footage and how much he earned from Sean Combs: The Reckoning.

How Did 50 Cent Obtain Sean Diddy Combs’ Hotel Footage

When the first teaser for Netflix’s Sean Combs: The Reckoning was released, it sparked a massive discourse online. The teaser featured a scene where Sean Combs was having a highly confidential conversation with attorney Marc Agnifilo about his charges. It was taken 6 days before the rapper was arrested in September 2024.

Sean Diddy Combs’ lawyers issued a cease-and-desist letter claiming that the clips were stolen from Diddy’s personal project. However, director Alexandria Stapleton refuted these claims and stated that Netflix had acquired the footage after his arrest with the rights. The series also includes an onscreen disclaimer that confirms the legal sourcing of the clips.

Social media users speculate that 50 Cent and Netflix executives bought the rights from videographers after Diddy was arrested; however, there is no concrete evidence. Videographers who own the camera and the SD card are the ones who own the right to the footage they record. Netizens think that 50 Cent paid a huge amount of money to Diddy’s personal cameramen to obtain this footage and expose him.
