Disgraced music mogul Sean Diddy Combs has been imprisoned for facilitating pr*stitution-related crimes. In a recent statement, Diddy slammed Netflix’s upcoming docuseries made on the rapper’s life and legal troubles. The show titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning is also produced by Diddy’s longtime rival, 50 Cent. In a statement released through his legal team, Sean Diddy Combs has called the Netflix docuseries a “shameless hit piece”. Read on to know more.

Sean Diddy Combs’ statement comes a day before Netflix’s Sean Combs: The Reckoning is set to release. In a teaser for the show, Diddy is seen on a phone call that was recorded six days before his 2024 arrest. The call was later used during the wider legal proceedings through which the rapper was convicted of transportation to engage in pr*stitution.

In the teaser footage, Combs is heard saying, “We need to find someone who will work with us who has worked in the dirtiest of dirty businesses. We are losing.”

Variety provided a quote from the Netflix docuseries’ director, Alexandria Stapleton, who refuted claims of the footage used in the show being stolen by saying, “It came to us, we obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights.” Stapleton also revealed that the team has done everything to conceal the identity of the filmmaker. She claims that Sean Diddy Combs always films himself, and it’s been an obsession throughout the decades.

The Netflix team also reached out to Combs’ legal team for an interview and comment multiple times, but did not hear back from them, according to Variety.

Sean Combs’ spokesperson, however, argued that the footage used in the docuseries has been taken out of context and was part of an archive he preserved since the age of 19 to frame his own narrative.

The representative also said that the show’s producer, 50 Cent, is a longtime adversary of Diddy and has a personal vendetta against him. He said that since 50 Cent has spent too much time slandering Mr Combs, it is staggering that Netflix handed creative control to him for this series.
