Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Granted Fast-Track Appeal After 50-Month Federal Sentence
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was transferred to a federal prison, where the disgraced mogul will be spending the remainder of his 50-month sentence. In a recent development in Diddy’s case, a judge granted him a speedy appeal, which was essentially everything that the rapper’s legal team had asked for during the trial. Read on to know more about the development in the case.

Judge Approves Speedy Appeal Requested By Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Lawyers

In a brief note, Judge Beth Robinson approved a request from Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ legal team, who are actively pushing to save the rapper from the prison sentence that was handed to him. Diddy was convicted of facilitating transportation for prostitution,  a violation of the Mann Act. The s*x trafficking and racketeering trial lasted for eight weeks and ended in a split verdict that found Diddy guilty by the jury. However, the rapper was spared the life sentence that the prosecution had initially pushed for, as he was found not guilty of the more serious charges that he had been accused of.
The appeal that the judge approved of proposed a timeline of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ brief to be due by 23rd December and the U.S. government’s brief scheduled to be delivered by Feb. 20. According to Judge Robinson, oral arguments in the case would take place in April and Combs’ legal team’s reply is scheduled to be due by 13 March.
Diddy’s lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, said that his appeal will challenge the unfair use of the Mann Act, an infamous statute with a sordid history, to prosecute him for s*x with consenting adults.
Combs’s lawyers requested a 14-month sentence for their client during sentencing; during this time, Combs was incarcerated at the infamous Metropolitan Correction Centre in Brooklyn while he awaited trial. Combs should receive a minimum term of 11 years and three months, according to the prosecution.
