Here is all you need to know about the latest developments in Diddy’s trial as it draws closer to a conclusion.
Prosecution Drops 3 Charges Pressed Against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
The charges that prosecutors dropped against Diddy are attempted kidnapping, attempted arson and aiding and abetting s*x trafficking. These charges together made the broader racketeering case against the music mogul.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ legal team rested their case without calling any witnesses to the stand. Instead, they focused on cross-examining witnesses from the prosecution’s side. Their question were mainly about the s*xually explicit text messages between Diddy and his alleged victims. The lawyers presented a case where they argued that all the encounters between these victims and Diddy were consensual.
Combs confirmed his decision not to take the stand and testify further. He told the presiding judge, Arun Subramanian, that he is doing great and decided not to take the stand ‘solely’ on his own, after discussing it with his lawyers.
Over the six-week-long trial, the prosecution called upon 34 witnesses to testify against Diddy. The witnesses included multiple former employees who worked under Diddy and, most importantly, two of his ex-romantic partners, Cassie Ventura and a woman identifying under the pseudonym ‘Jane.’ Both women alleged that Diddy had coerced and pressurised them to participate in s*xual activities with him as well as groups of male s*x workers.
