Sean Diddy Combs Asks Judge For Second Chance Before Verdict In Prostitution Case

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, 55, has requested leniency from a federal judge one day before his sentencing for prostitution-related charges. In a letter addressed to Judge Arun Subramanian on Thursday, Combs said he was humbled by the criminal case and apologised for the decisions that brought about his downfall. The music mogul is currently facing up to 11 years in prison after he pleaded guilty in a s*x racketeering case. Read on to know more.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Pleads Judge For Mercy

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was cleared earlier this summer of the most severe charges of racketeering and s*x trafficking after a trial that lasted eight weeks. But the jury did find him guilty of trafficking women for prostitution and arranging drug-fuelled s*x parties that prosecutors called “freak-offs” or “hotel nights.” He was also found guilty of employing male escorts for parties.

Combs admitted in his letter that decades of booze and drugs had distorted his behaviour and that he was now sober for the first time in 25 years. His lawyers argue that the time he has already served, approximately one year, is sufficient punishment. Meanwhile, prosecutors are advocating for a minimum sentence of 11 years in jail.

The letter was the first time Combs had spoken directly in the case. He apologised generally for the damage he did, proclaiming he was devoted to change. Sean Diddy Combs pleaded guilty to attacking his then-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, at a 2016 Los Angeles hotel, an assault caught on security video. He called it an instant loss of control and said he lives with the memory every day.

Cassie Ventura, who had testified at the trial, brushed off his apology in her own letter to the court. She described him as abusive and manipulative, claiming that he has no plans to change. Her testimony and that of other women continue to form the core of the prosecution’s contention that Combs’s conduct was not random errors but was part of a sustained history of abuse and exploitation.
