According to a report by SBS, the woman claimed that she had been romantically involved with a person she believed was Lee Dong Wook for more than a year. She also shared screenshots of their conversations. As their conversations continued, the woman said she became convinced that the person was genuinely the actor. She believed that their relationship had become serious and that they had even discussed meeting each other’s parents.

The situation eventually took an expensive turn. The woman reportedly sent around ₩35 million, which is approximately $25,400, to the person she believed was Lee Dong Wook. She also revealed that she had taken money from her savings and funds.
