It appears that the same was the case with actress Sayani Gupta. She recently opened up about how her mother did not support her acting dreams early and how she changed her mind later. Sayani Gupta Says Her Mother Was Against Her Pursuing Acting
Sayani Gupta recently appeared on Cyrus Says and revealed that her mother was against her pursuing acting. The actress stated that when she wanted to get into the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) to pursue acting, her mother threatened to slit her wrist. While reflecting on her corporate job, Sayani stated that although she made a lot of money, she was bored and this was not something she saw for herself.
The Jolly LLB 2 star shared that growing up, her mother did not let her go for theatre rehearsals and locked her in her room, saying that actors are pr*stitutes because this was the idea of actors she had. When Sayani took up an acting course at FTII, she did her best not to tell her mother but within two minutes of reaching the campus, her mom became aware of it.

What Changed?
During the conversation, Sayani Gupta revealed that, interestingly, a shift happened when her mother was offered roles in student diploma films on the campus. The actress’ mother ended up accepting three out of five offers and told her daughter that maybe if she had to do that for the next two years, it was not so bad.
After making her debut with Second Marriage.com in 2012, Sayani Gupta rose to fame by starring in Four More Shots, Jolly LLB 2 and Margarita With A Straw.
