Bollywood star Sara Ali Khan’s frequent spiritual visits to Badrinath and Kedarnath every year often make headlines. Kedarnath was also the title of her debut film with Sushant Singh Rajput. About Sara Ali Khan, BKTC

During a recent press conference on Tuesday, March 17, the BKTC chairman, Hemant, announced that all non-Hindus who have faith in Sanatan Dharma must provide a written declaration of being a Sanatani and believe in Hindutva to go to the Badrinath and Kedarnath temple complexes. The BKTC unanimously approved this proposal on March 10 to ban non-Sanatanis entry into the temples.

When asked about Sara Ali Khan, as per PTI, he stated, “If Sara Ali Khan affirms that she holds faith and devotion towards Sanatan, and subsequently submits an affidavit to that effect, she will be granted darshan.” She is the daughter of actors Amrita Singh (Sikh) and Saif Ali Khan (Muslim). The committee has also standardised a format for this, with a proposal already being sent to the Uttarakhand government. This comes ahead of the Char Dham Yatra, which begins on April 19 with almost 6 lakh people already registered. The Badrinath Dham will be open on April 23, while the Kedarnath Dham will open on April 22.

Sara has not responded to the BKTC’s declaration yet. Sara revealed at the Times Now Summit in 2025 that she cannot express her devotion to Kedarnath and that visiting the temple is a ‘humbling emotion’. She also mentioned that as she grew up, she questioned her religious identity, considering that her mother is a Singh and her father is a Khan.
