Sanya Malhotra On Societal Expectations From Women

During a recent conversation with ANI, Sanya raised an important issue regarding the expectations placed on women after childbirth. She pointed out that society often assumes that a woman should step away from her career to focus entirely on raising a child, while the same is not expected of men. Emphasizing that parenting is a shared responsibility, she stressed the need for a more balanced approach where both parents contribute equally, rather than placing the burden solely on the mother.

Director Arati Kadav echoed this sentiment, questioning why marriage and motherhood are often seen as turning points that force women to abandon their ambitions. She highlighted the ingrained belief that women must be the ones to adjust, sacrifice, and take on household duties, while men continue to thrive professionally. She also noted how society views a man’s success as dependent on the support of the women in his life first his mother, then his wife—while rarely acknowledging the sacrifices women make. Sanya Malhotra, known for her diverse film choices, has built an impressive career with films like Dangal, Pagglait, Kathal, and Jawan. She attributes her success to her willingness to step out of her comfort zone and take on challenging roles.
