Conversation around women menstruating is being normalised for men too. Thankfully, the period talk is making its way to work places, with women being vocal about the problems they face while being on periods. Talking about the same, Sanjeeda Shaikh arrived on the latest episode of Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist. A former dancer and choreographer, Shaikh recalled the times she mentioned to her directors that she’s chumming and won’t be able to give in a lot of energy.
Speaking about it, Shaikh said–”The first time my mother got her periods, she went and told it to her dad, so for me to tell it to my co-actor or director was very easy. Whenever I was about to perform, I would often get my periods. This also happened during the Heeramandi shoot, but it is so beautiful that when you’re shooting you’re so engrossed that you forget about your pains. This happens with me a lot.”

She further added–”I was shooting for a major mujra scene in Heeramandi, and it was my first day of periods. Second days are usually difficult because they’re uncomfortable for me. My team would also help me wind up early, because I would also tell them. So, it is important to inform, otherwise how will anybody know?” She also had a special message for girls and urged them to get comfortable with the thought. She also mentioned that men today are very aware about it and sense when you’re on your periods.
