Sandeep Reddy Vanga Calls Animal’s Big Pelvis Dialogue A Compliment. Yes, Women Love Being Called Baby Making Machines!

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri hit the theatres on December 1, 2023. The 3 hours 20 minutes film was an overdose of bloodshed, violence, and of course, misogyny. Many scenes and dialogues delivered by Ranbir Kapoor’s character (Ranvijay) for his girlfriend Geetanjali (Rashmika Mandanna) were problematic. In a recent interview, director Sandeep Reddy justified one of the most controversial dialogues in the film where Ranvijyay “Compliments” Geetanjali’s pelvis! The Animal director accepted that it was meant to be a compliment and further explained the character’s point of view too! And, well, now we know where the exact problem lies!

What Did Sandeep Reddy Vanga Say?

Sandeep Reddy Vanga backed one of the most controversial scenes in his latest film Animal. In this scene, Ranbir’s character Ranvijay tries to impress Geetanjali (Rashmika Mandanna) in the limited time that he gets. After a long and manipulative speech, Ranvijay’s final way of proposing to her for marriage was by complimenting her pelvis, and that it was big enough to bear children! During an interview with Gallata Plus Sandeep Reddy Vanga not only accepted that the dialogue was meant to be a compliment, but he also elaborated on why Ranvijay said the dialogue. Vanga said Ranvijay wanted to take a different kind of path to attract Geetanjali’s attention and was aware that if he didn’t say “one more line”, the girl would walk away and marry her fiance. Sandeep Reddy Vanga also stated that in such situations boys do not know how to express their love and end up saying something else instead of their real feelings. He also said that Ranvijay’s pelvis dialogue was a way of letting Geetanjali know that he wanted a future with her.

As a woman, I do not feel that a man talking about a woman’s pelvis while trying to propose to her is in any way a compliment. Rather, if it was a real-life situation, a woman would be utterly disappointed with this “different way” of expressing feelings. The director should’ve known that there are many other ways to impress a girl instead of objectifying her body as a mere baby-vending machine!  And talking about  Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s explanation of a man’s feelings in such situations, we strongly feel that Ranvijay should’ve kept shut after his speech on “Alpha man” because that was still bearable to some extent. The unnecessary addition of the pelvis dialogue will only inspire men to use such dialogues in real life too, and well, we are quite aware of how most guys lack the art of complimenting women! The fact that Animal can be a wrong influence on the youth is very much justified because Vanga blurred the line between an “Alpha male” and a misogynistic man through Ranbir Kapoor’s character. Why is it so difficult for Vanga to understand that justifying and glorifying such a mindset sends a wrong message back to the society and everyone who looks up to him and loves his films? For a moment, if we let go of his misogynistic films like Kabir Singh and Animal as art or director’s creative freedom, how can we ignore his problematic statements during interviews?
