The judge overseeing Sameer Wankhede’s case, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, issued a summons to the defendants involved in the case, namely, Gauri Khan, the owner of  Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited, Google LLC, Meta Platforms, RPG Lifestyle Media Private Limited and John Doe. They have been asked to file their replies within seven days.

The defamation case filed by Sameer Wankhede is about Aryan Khan’s directed Netflix series titled Ba***ds of Bollywood. Wankhede claims that the Red Chillies-produced show has deliberately damaged his reputation.

Sameer Wankhede’s Defamation Lawsuit

Sameer Wankhede sought Rs. 2 crore in damages from the defamation case against Aryan Khan’s Ba***ds of Bollywood. The government official says that he wants to donate this amount to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for the benefit of cancer patients.

“This series disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions,” read the plea submitted by Wankhede’s legal team.

It further stated that Ba***ds of Bollywood has been conceptualised and executed with the intent to damage Wankhede’s reputation in a colourable and prejudicial manner, especially since the case involving the officer and Shahrukh Khan’s son. Sameer Wankhede and Aryan Khan first crossed paths when the then NCB official arrested Khan in 2022 over a drug use case.
