He recalled how Apporva Mukhija got three FIRs as well as multiple r*pe threats only because she responded to a man’s inappropriate comment in his own language. During his latest special, called Samay Raina Still Alive, he recalled the rapper’s derogatory remark that stated, “Vagina main sensation khatam ho gayi hai kya?” To this, Apoorva Mukhija replied, “Kabhi vagina dekhi hai maa se nikalne ke baad?” This remark instantly went viral online, with many stunned by her response. And while half of the internet appreciated her comeback, the others saw it through a different lens and started criticising her for the same. Raina said that he was jealous of her while also feeling proud.
Samay praised her comeback and stated how about how she failed 4 comedians at least with this response. He explained that some things in life exist in layers, and focusing only on the surface misses the point. For him, it wasn’t just about Apoorva responding to a rapper in that moment; it meant something much bigger. It was about a woman standing her ground and ultimately coming out stronger than a man. She praised how, in such a patriarchal set-up, when no one was expecting her to respond, she killed it. The comedian labelled it as a ‘powerful moment’ and recalled getting goosebumps.
He concluded all this by saying that 3 FIRs was the price that a woman had to pay just for standing up for herself. Even after the scandal erupted, many people came to Apoorva’s defence, claiming that she had simply returned what she had received. Some even stated that subjecting Apoorva and her family to rape and death threats was unacceptable and should have been reported.
