Samay Raina Appears Before Maharashtra Cyber Police, Expresses Regret Over Comments, Says ‘Had No Intention Of…’
Samay Raina has finally addressed the controversy that has engulfed him and Ranveer Allahbadia over their remarks on India’s Got Latent.

Comedian Samay Raina has finally addressed the controversy that has engulfed him and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, over their remarks on India’s Got Latent. The issue, which escalated into a legal battle, saw Raina appearing before the Maharashtra Cyber Police in Navi Mumbai on Monday after being summoned for questioning.
Raina Expresses Regret Over Remarks
In his official statement to the authorities, Raina acknowledged that his comments were inappropriate and expressed remorse for his words. “I deeply regret what I said. It happened in the flow of the show, and I had no intention of offending anyone,” he stated. He admitted that he had not fully realized the weight of his words at the time but now understands the impact they have had.
The comedian assured investigators that he would be more mindful in the future to avoid similar missteps. He also opened up about the personal toll the controversy has taken, revealing that the backlash affected his mental health and even disrupted his international tour in Canada.
Maharashtra Cyber Police Insist on In-Person Statement
The Maharashtra Cyber Police had previously declined Raina’s request to provide his statement via video conferencing, instead insisting that he appear in person. Their investigation is being conducted in collaboration with Mumbai Police, as multiple complaints have been filed over the incident.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s Controversial Remarks Spark Outrage
The controversy initially erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia made highly offensive remarks on India’s Got Latent. He allegedly posed obscene questions to a contestant, including an offer of Rs 2 crore for an explicit act. Another remark, reportedly taken from a YouTube show, asked whether a person would “watch their parents have sex every day for the rest of their life or join in once to stop it forever.”
These statements led to national outrage, with multiple FIRs being lodged against Allahbadia. The backlash intensified when the Supreme Court took a firm stance on the matter.

The case also sparked a broader conversation about free speech and social media responsibility. During a recent hearing, the Supreme Court criticized the behavior of young influencers, remarking that some believe they are “oversmart” and assume they know more than they actually do.
“There are some people writing articles about free speech, but we know how to handle them too. Every fundamental right comes with a duty and has its restrictions,” Justice Surya Kant stated in court.
