Bollywood star Salman Khan’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, was recently admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on February 17. Reports suggest that he was feeling giddy, while others say that he was rushed to the hospital due to high blood pressure. Reports also suggested that he was put on a ventilator due to his critical condition, as well as rumours of surgery. But now, Dr Jalil Parkar has finally given a health update. Read to know about it here.
About Salim Khan’s Health
Talking to the media, Dr Jalil Parkar said, “After evaluating him in the emergency room and administering medication, we determined that he required ICU care and transported him there. He was having twitches, and his blood pressure was elevated, so we treated him and put him on a ventilator so we could conduct various studies.” The ventilator was placed purely as a precautionary safeguard to prevent his condition from deteriorating, and not because he was in critical condition, as reported across several channels.
The doctor explained that after placing him on a ventilator, the medical team conducted investigations including MRI scans, CT scans and blood tests. A procedure called DSA was performed in the morning by neurosurgeon Nitin Dange. However, further details were withheld due to patient confidentiality and in keeping with the family’s instructions.
He added that the procedure was successful, the patient is stable and has been moved to the ICU, with doctors expecting to remove ventilator support by the next day. While noting that age may slow recovery slightly, he said the overall condition is encouraging. The doctor also clarified that the patient arrived conscious and appeared fit. Addressing reports of a brain haemorrhage, he confirmed there was a minor bleed that had already been managed and does not require surgery.
