Sabrina Carpenter is all set to play the lead role in an upcoming film inspired by Alice in Wonderland! The actress and singer has been confirmed to star in a new musical produced by Universal Pictures, based on Lewis Carroll’s classic novel ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’. A report by Variety reveals that the production company recently greenlit the project, which is set to be directed by Lorene Scafaria, known for Hustlers and The Meddler. Read on to know more.
Sabrina Carpenter To Star In And Produce Universal’s Music Film Inspired By Alice In Wonderland
Along with starring in the film, Sabrina Carpenter will also be producing it alongside Marc Platt through his Universal-based banner Marc Platt Productions. Sources also told Variety that Sabrina played an instrumental role in bringing the concept to Universal. The idea has since evolved with Scafaria joining as writer and director in hit projects like Hustlers and The Meddler. Lorene Scafaria has also directed Rachel Sonnet’s highly anticipated upcoming series called I Love LA.
The global pop star initially started as an actress and gained popularity for her role in the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World. She has also played the supporting role in Netflix films Tall Girl and The Hate You Give. The news of Sabrina’s casting comes as a surprise to fans, as she has been focusing on her music career lately.
Sabrina Carpenter recently received six Grammy nominations for her album Man’s Best Friend. The album was well received both by critics and netizens, with songs like ‘Tears’, ‘Manchild’ and ‘House Tour’ charting worldwide.
