Reply 1988 is one of the most beloved Korean dramas of this decade. Fans were elated to find out that for the show’s 10th anniversary, cast members are reuniting for a special reunion. However, the attendance of one specific cast member, Ryu Jun Yeol, was in question because of his relationship with the show’s lead actress, Lee Hyeri. Production Speaks Out About Ryu Jun Yeol’s Participation In Reply 1988’s 10-Year-Anniversary
It was previously reported that Ryu Jun Yeol was expected to skip the 10th anniversary celebration for Reply 1988 due to his strained relationship with Lee Hyeri. The actor’s filming schedules and other commitments also made it difficult for him to join the reunion. However, now Reply 1988’s production team and TvN revealed that although the actor was unable to join the group retreat that the cast went on, he did adjust his schedule to partake in filming some content for the show’s anniversary.
However, the actor did not physically participate in any group activities that the other cast members embarked on for this special occasion. It was previously reported that the production team for Reply 1988 had organised a cast and crew reunion that included a retreat and filming for a variety program. The cast had travelled together to Gangwon Province in October, and Ryu Jun Yeol was notably absent from this.

Ryu Jun Yeol and Lee Hyeri started dating after they met on the set of Reply 1988. The two were together for almost seven years before breaking up in 2023. However, things got messy when Hyeri took to social media to post a cryptic message after Jun Yeol was rumoured to be dating actress Han So Hee. Hyeri later apologised for her actions; however, it became clear that the two co-stars are not on talking terms with each other following the incident.
