Ryan Reynolds never misses a moment to turn tension into laughter, and Sunday night’s Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary event was no exception. Making their first public appearance since the legal storm involving Blake Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni, Reynolds couldn’t resist delivering a perfectly-timed jab about the ongoing feud.

Ryan Reynolds Jokes At SNL 50

The moment unfolded when SNL icons Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who were hosting the star-studded evening, directed their attention to the couple in the audience. “Ryan! How’s it going?” they asked, prompting Reynolds’ signature quip: “Great! Why, what have you heard?” The remark instantly drew laughter from the crowd, though Lively, sitting beside him with a smile until that moment, appeared momentarily caught off guard by the joke.

While the audience enjoyed the humor, the feud between Lively and Baldoni is no laughing matter. The Gossip Girlactress has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment, claiming he fostered a hostile work environment on the set of It Ends With Us. Lively’s lawsuit also alleges that Baldoni initiated a malicious smear campaign against her, intensifying the rift between the former colleagues.

Justin Baldoni, however, has vehemently denied the accusations, retaliating with a $400 million defamation lawsuit filed on January 16. His legal action doesn’t stop with Lively; it also targets Reynolds and the couple’s public relations team, along with The New York Times, which covered the initial harassment claims. Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s attorney, recently stated that his client has been emotionally and financially drained by the ordeal. Freedman revealed that Baldoni has even released behind-the-scenes footage from the It Ends With Us set in an effort to refute the allegations. He also launched a website to share text exchanges with Lively in hopes of swaying public perception.

The legal teams prepare for trial, which is scheduled for May 2026.
